Regie’s Anti Smuggling Patrols Issue 90 Records .. 429 million L.L. penalties over smuggled tobacco products during 2016

The Regie announced that its anti smuggling patrols issued during 2016 90 records of seized smuggled tobacco products, with an estimated cost of 4,329,000,000 L.L. while the amount of paid penalties reached 429,000,000 L.L.

The Regie’s President and General Manager Mr. Nassif Seklaoui received a report from the head of anti smuggling department Mr. Mohammad Daher of anti smuggling activities during last year. The report indicates that 5362 Kg of illegal tobacco products were seized, of which 3415 Kg of cigarettes, 1749 Kg of imported mo’assal, 154 Kg of Isfahani tombac, 37 Kg of imported cigars, 12 Kg of imported tombac and tobacco, and 17 Kg of local tombac.

As well, 39 records were issued by Lebanese customs, army, and internal security forces, seizing 9828 Kg of which 3828 Kg of cigarettes, 5824 Kg of imported mo’assal, 31 Kg of Isfahani tombac, 89 Kg of imported cigars, and 57 Kg of imported tombac and tobacco.

The report indicated that the overall value of reconciliations in tobacco related cases paid at the Regie’s central fund reached 429,000,000 L.L.
