Will the agreement with Phillip Morris International contribute to the achievement of Regie goals?

In accordance with its agreement with Phillip Morris International, the management of the Regie Libanaise Des Tabacs Et Tombacs (Regie) will assume the responsibility of manufacturing Marlboro Medium cigarettes, as well as the new brand that will be launched by Phillip Morris. In addition to that, the agreement includes the production of other types of “Marlboro” in later stages.

The agreement, which is the third of its kind with international cigarette manufacturing companies after two decades of agreements with VON EICKEN and IMPERIAL TOBACCO, comes as a real proof that Regie has become a reliable manufacturing company.

This matter does not only help in drawing a bright image about Regie but also increases its income; thus, benefitting the state's treasury and leading to the development of its work and strengthening the expertise of its team.

In this regard, Regie is expecting to attract the majority of multinational companies to fully or partially manufacture their products at its factories.

And at a time when adopting Regie as a production unit for these companies will enhance Regie’s growth and increase its chances to become a regional center that nourishes the markets of the region with these products, it will also impose a great challenge on Regie since this matter will require communication with a growing number of international companies simultaneously and also the continuous development of capacity-building.

It is worth noting that Philip Morris products are sold in more than 180 markets and around 80 thousand employees work for the company worldwide. The company also has more than 400 engineers, technicians, and researchers who are working on the development of non-tobacco products.
