Regie announces start of tobacco purchase from South Lebanon; confiscates smuggled products from Dahyeh

La Régie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs (Regie), announced that the purchase of the tobacco harvest from South Lebanon had started, adding that the purchase from North Lebanon will commence on 28 November.
Regie also noted that the dates of purchase from Bekaa will be announced whenever the harvest is ready.
On another note, the anti-smuggling department at Regie held a number of raids in Beirut’s Dahyeh where it confiscated large quantities of smuggled cigars, tobacco products and tombac.
Fines against smugglers were worth millions of Lebanese pounds and arrest warrants were issued against them and referred to the concerned authorities.
