In line with its national role, the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco has ensured alternative crop- receiving sites in villages neighboring the southern towns that have been left by tobacco farmers due to the constant bombing.
The Regie announced in a statement that it is collaborating with House Speaker Mr. Nabih Berri and the Lebanese Army’s Intelligence to assist in releasing, with the support of the UNIFIL, the harvested crops from towns no more accessible to farmers. The Regie hoped the issue will be resolved the earliest, noting that it has received, to date, half of the quantities produced by the high-risk southern towns.
