Seklaoui after meeting Finance Minister: We overcame the obstacles and achieved positive results

Caretaker Minister of Finance Dr. Ghazi Wazni met on Monday the Director General of La Regie Libanaise Des Tabacs Et Tombacs (Regie), Engineer Nassif Seklaoui accompanied by Eng. Georges Hobeika, Eng. Mazen Abboud, and Dr. Issam Salman. Following the meeting, Eng. Seklaoui said: We came to inform Minister Wazni about the budget of 2020 especially that Regie, among other institutions in Lebanon, had passed through difficult circumstances resulting from the general economic situation and the spread of COVID-19 pandemic which forced us to close our facilities for certain periods. “We decreased the selling price of tobacco products by considering the dollar rate at half its price so we won’t impose an increase on our customers and we also increased the purchase price of tobacco products from farmers by 50%,” Eng. Seklaoui added. “We thank God for overcoming a number of obstacles and still managing to achieve positive results,” Seklaoui concluded.
